Sean haley: martial arts trainer

My goal:

To pass all my martial arts knowledge to my students

Your Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing Coach Sean Haley

My name is Sean Haley, and I have been actively involved in martial arts for over 35+ years.

My journey in martial arts began in Portland, Oregon, where I undertook the majority of my training. As a child, I was captivated by Kung Fu Theater on Sunday nights on the USA network, which sparked my fascination with B-rated Kung Fu and Ninja VHS videos. I immersed myself in the world of martial arts by collecting issues of Inside Kung Fu Magazine and Black Belt Magazine. This early passion led me to enroll in my first Kenpo Karate class at the age of 11, and my dedication to martial arts has only grown stronger ever since.

Throughout my training, I had the privilege of learning from esteemed martial arts masters who deeply influenced my journey. Prof. Leonard Trigg, a professional boxer and coach, has been my main boxing and martial arts coach.

I have also had the honor of training under the guidance of Ajarn Chai Sirisute of the Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A., Punong Guro Edgar Sulite of the Lameco Eskrima Association, and Maestro Ted Lucaylucay of the Temjuin JKD/Kali Association. Their teachings have greatly shaped my martial arts perspective.

I have been a Certified Muay Thai Instructor under the United States Thai Boxing Association since 1997., I hold a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. With my comprehensive background, I have specialized experience in teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Filipino Weapons, Thai Kickboxing, and Western Boxing.

Over the years, I have dedicated my efforts to honing my skills and sharing my knowledge with others. For eight years, I owned and operated Oregon Martial Arts in Tigard, Oregon. However, I made the decision to focus solely on teaching martial arts rather than running a full-fledged business.

Now, I bring my expertise to SPAR Self-Defense in Williamsville, NY where I teach both group classes and private sessions. It is my personal mission to instill passion and a love of life in people through the vehicle of martial arts training.

Outside of martial arts, I am proud to be a family man. I have been happily married since 2004 and have two wonderful boys, aged 11 and 15. Balancing a martial arts lifestyle with my responsibilities as a husband and father has been immensely rewarding, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.
